Pulmonary Sclerosing Hemangioma

A benign neoplasm of alveolar pneumocytes or ontogenetically primitive counterparts thereof. Morphological patterns that have been described include: solid, hemorrhagic, papillary, and sclerotic. Most lesions display a combination of two or three morphological patterns. Despite the implication by its name (HEMANGIOMA) of a vascular neoplasm, pulmonary sclerosing hemangioma is considered by most authorities to be an epithelial tumor.
